Q4 Begins! Extra Credit Opportunity NEW DUE DATE: By Tuesday 4/7, complete Phase One and Two using a different structure (something too tall to measure). Example: You could find the height of something at school (lamp post, street sign, tree) or you could find the height of something at home. You will need to repeat EVERYTHING from phase one and phase two. Be sure to record the time and date!
March 24 - 27: See March 23
March 23:
No HW due Tuesday 3/24 (Various grades will be missing from class on various days this week due to PARCC testing so we will be focusing on in-class work.)

CW: What are the "shortcuts" for determining whether or not TRIANGLES are similar?
AA: if two angles are congruent to two angles in another triangle, the triangles are similar
SSS: If the three sets of corresponding sides of two triangles are in proportion, then the triangles are similar.
SAS: If the lengths of two sides are in proportion and the included angles are congruent, the triangles are similar.
CW: Ratio Word Problems:
Ex: A baseball team played 154 regular season games. The ratio of number of games they won to the number of games they lost was 5:2. How many games did they win? How many games did they lose?
To solve: 5x + 2x = 154
x = 22
Use x to find the number of games won and the number of games lost: 5(22) = 110 games won; 2(22) = 44 games lost
February 3: HW due Thursday 2/5: Choose 15 problems from the first two pages (the last two pages are the answer keys):
CW: Review of ratios and proportions in preparation for Unit 4: Similarity. Also, make sure you look at and can answer the questions on the warm up! This was a vocabulary review for our quiz on Friday.

You will need to provide evidence that you studied (examples: 1. mark the proofs that you completed as part of your studying, 2. re-do an old proof by copying the "given", "prove" and diagram, then cover the answer while you re-do the proof).
